muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Apr 28, 2003 Updated: Apr 10, 20044/28/03: Translucent orange, no head. Malty-caramel weak nose. Very sweet front end, but some underlying hoppiness carries through to the bittersweet finish; fairly light and refreshing. 2.9 overall
April 04: I sampled this under better conditions, and it helps confirm my suspicion that JT is a much better brewer than you would know if you drink his stuff when the bar is hopping. Without being overcome by smoke and noise, this is still not a great beer, but the apricot-caramel notes both in aroma and flavor are quite nice, the body is decent, and there is an interesting (though perhaps a bit much for a bock) smoky bitterness towards the finish.
