Some other honey beers I’ve tried were like stale honey aroma’s. Decent sweet malty honey stickyness to the flavor. Carbination gave me a cola soda flavor and where this came from I don’t know but a somewhat metalic finish. A decent considering I haven’t found a honey brew to my liking yet. cbkschubert (2002), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

This beer is brought to me fresh from the tap with a frothy, lightly browned, tan colored head that starts out about a quarter-finger in thickness. The beer is a dark, opaque brown color that shows brilliantly clear, dark, amber brown notes around the edges. The aroma has a lightly sweet, caramelized malt notes to it, which is followed by a toasted malty note.
The taste is fairly sweet with notes of caramel, toffee and a honey-like sweetness that melds deeply with the sweet, dark malt notes. A nice level of carbonation adds a bit of a bite and along with a light hop bitterness, helps to balance some of the sweetness. This has a really nice toffee like character to it and at times it even takes on flavors reminiscent of a cola (perhaps that mix of honey and dark malt is what creates this).
This is nice and easy drinking, the sweetness does give it a touch of a sticky mouth-coating quality, but it helps to make the honey quality noticeable (if this was dry, the honey character would be lost, as it is, it is still subtle). I want to not like this for some reason, ultimately I do though and would even try this again. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
