Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 3, 2008 Tap @ TCB. Average sweet some spicey notes on the nose for aroma. Amber body with off white head. Flavor was all medium sweet sticky candy with a touch of spice bitter. Dry palate needed a water.
hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA May 9, 2007 aroma is medicine, maybe metallic. flavor is bland and unexpressive. kinda sweet and fruitty. nothing to it FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Apr 14, 2007 Sampled March 2007
This beer has a deep, clear, reddish amber color and is topped by one-and-a-half finger thick, frothy, amber tinged tan colored head that is quite good for a draught beer. The aroma is malty, but really quite non-descript for a Bock, much less a Doppel Bock. I get some aromatic notes of light caramel and a dry toasty note in the finish.
The beer is fairly well carbonated, which accentuates a sharp, carbonic bite. Rich and chewy without being very sweet (basically made up of lots of complex, residual malt sugars). This beer has a spicy-herbal hop finish and quite a solid hop bitterness for a Doppel Bock. The bitterness adds a balance not usually found in this malt focused style of beer. Rich, bready, caramelized crust flavors add to the layered malt character that is found in this beer. This is definitely thick bodied, but ample carbonation helps to lighten the overall sensory effect of this beer. This is thick enough to be contemplative though, and it is definitely a sipping brew. Ultimately this beer is somehow lackluster and I can’t quite put my finger on it. There seems to be missing a certain richness and flavor depth that I would require in a Bock, thought he body is definitely spot on. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Mar 30, 2007 On tap at TCB - Pours a clear deep amber color with a thin off white head. Light, thin lacing on the way down the glass. Light caramel malt aroma. Sweet toasted malt flavor. Medium body. Nothing special, but drinkable. Worth a try. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Feb 24, 2007 Not very good. Tastes and smells almost synthetic, the only thing I can think of to describe it, almost chemically. The burnt caramel flavors don’t help. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA Nov 13, 2005 Updated: Nov 22, 2005Lost rating.

Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jan 23, 2005 On draught @ the 5th Annual Strong Beer Festival in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dark orange in color. Typical, non-expressive Dopplebock aroma with fruity malt (plum), caramel and herbals hops. Malt accented, buttery, grainy feel with notes of bread, cookies, caramel and toast and a small hop presense that brings forth a distinct dryness and grass flavor.
