pours a darker version of the typical burgundy brown porter... nearly black with a slight haze and lasting tan ring for a head.
lots of roast on the nose without any sign of ashiness... lactose, wood, a touch of cocoa, fruit (though i don’t know which) and some floral hops.
the palate is dry... almost chalky on the finish... flavors in between of chocolate, slight char, toasty grain, floral hops and a peppery kind of spice. it is very well balanced... safe enough for tux and plenty for the nerds to enjoy.
medium bodied with a soft texture and thick/rich mouth feel from carbonation. 7/4.5/7/4/16/3.9

Nov 30, 2008 Good dark color and aromas. Full nectar with strong flavors. This one holds it’s own for a porter and finishes with good length. Nice job guy’s.

Jun 13, 2008 a deep black with tan head and some decent lacing. aroma of roasted malts and some cocoa. flavor is some of the same very deep roasted flavor.

Apr 15, 2007 Fresh growler courtesy of cbkschubert. Pours dark brown with a thin soapy head. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, some dark fruit, and spicy. Tastes of dark chocolate, bitter hops, and splashes of peppery spiciness. More hoppy than I’m used to in a porter. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side. Finishes slightly bitter with some sweet maltiness.

Sep 4, 2006 Draft at brewery. Dark brown with tan head. Chocolate on the nose. Some coffee too. Light on the flavor. on the mouthfeel too. Not bad though.

Jul 29, 2006 Growler via trade with cbkschubert! - Thanks Craig! - Pours dark brown with a fair creamy tan head. Aromas of good roasted coffee and some light chocolate. Flavor is nice and roasted. Good light coffee notes and lingering milk chocolate. The finish is sweet chocolate and fairly dry. Good drinking porter. Glad I got the chance to try this.

May 28, 2006 On tap at TCB - Pours a dark brown color with a nice light tan head. Has a nice roasted malt and coffee aroma and flavor. Smooth light bitterness. Medium body. This beer is pretty good.
