nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 13, 2009 On tap at GABF 2009. This beer was the epitome of the word "decent." Nothing really stood out, but then again it was certainly not at all offensive. I like calling things decent. It’s a decent word. Pretty nice reddish-copper color with a small off-white head and decent lacing. Aroma is decent with bready and caramelly malt, grain, roast, and some fruit. Flavor is also decent with bread and caramel, toffee, toast, and fruity notes. Palate is decent, medium-bodied with average carbonation. Overall, this is decent. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 22, 2009 Beautiful rusty red pour with a 1/4 stark white head that left some lacing. Aroma is all honey baked biscuit, caramel, toffee, and fruit. Flavor is similar...with a little hop punch in the aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel. Not bad, I guess. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Feb 28, 2008 pours a brown shade of amber with a off white head. it has a really sweet grainy aroma with hints of biscuits and fruit. the palate is overwhelmingly sweet grains with some more caramel and fruitiness. there’s a light hoppy bitterness present along with a dry herbal finish. mild hoppy skunkiness lingers in the aftertaste behind the malt. medium body with a creamy mouth feel. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 17, 2007 Tap @ Brewery. Aroma had a decent malty sweetness and also noticable was an aluminum aroma as well. Red body with off white head. Medium sweet malted jucie flavor that wasn’t all bad. Easy on the palate was good with the meal. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Aug 5, 2007 On tap @ brewery - Pours a clear deep copper color with a small light tan head. Aroma is light toasted caramel malt. Flavor is much of the same. Has a slight lingering dry malt aftertaste. Medium body. A decent beer. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Aug 4, 2007 This beer is brilliantly clear and is almost brown in color, it certainly is not really red. It is topped by a small, wispy, tan colored head. The aroma is quite malty, with notes of toasty grain, biscuit-like notes, some hints of chocolate even, perhaps some hints of fruit as well as some herbal hop aromatics.
The taste is lightly sweet and has a hint of raisin and some other fruit-like notes to it. There is a fair amount of malt character here, but not as much as the aroma would have suggested. Some balancing herbal hop character is noticeable and there is a distinct bitterness in the finish that is there just enough to provide a crispness. This has a pretty nice malt profile, but I really wish that the flavor had lived up to the aromatic promises.
