Commercial Description:
Winner of the BRONZE award in the Imperial Stout Category at the 2000 World Beer Cup International Beer Competition. Russian Imperial Stouts were originally brewed for export to the Royal Court of Russia where they were enjoyed by Catherine the Great. Ours has a rich intense maltiness with black currant, toffee and dark roasted malt flavors. The higher alcohol content is sure to warm you up from the inside out.

Bought a growler from the brewery. Aroma of chocolate and roast was standout and bold. Black body with medium tan creamy head. Only thing lacking was high amout of lacing. Flavor was of rich choclate and some mild sweetness to it. Had the taste of chocolate milk. Full bodied beer. Left a roasty sweet aftertaste. Smooth beer for high alcohol content. Ever get to Tucson this would be a beer to get.

Hand bottled from cbkshubert. BIG THANKYOU!This poured big black body, tight tan head,. lots of chocolate and coffee in the nose. Taste was full body, coffee, and loads of chocolate. Vanilla lingers after the swallow. Loved this. Can only imagine how great this is fresh. A new major fav.

22oz bottle from cbkschubert.Thick and rich with the aroma of coco, chocolate, mollasass, coffee, and roasted malty. Damn was this beer good. Black with small burgundy lacing type head. Smooooth and creamy and really rich. The taste was the same as the aroma with minimal alcohol detected. This beer was WAY better then I expected. I need MORE, Craig??........

Growler thanks to hellbilly. Had this after Dark Lord, and have to say that it is actually better and deserving of its title as AZ’s best beer. Pours black with a nice brown head. Smells and tastes of balanced flavors of roasted coffee, vanilla, and dark cocoa with a note citrusy hops at the back of the palate. Disguises the alcohol content so well you could actually session this. Time in a barrel would make this ridiculous.

Hand-bottle courtesy of cbkschubert sampled on 1/10/07: Pours an opaque black with dark brown edges and a frothy, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark caramely malts with lots of dark chocolate and a touch of plums. Body starts fairly full with nice sweetness and good dark caramel and chocolate malty notes toward a smooth, complex, and balanced finish. A very nice imperial stout.

Bottle sampled at the Carolina tasting, thanks Sam. After hearing about this one for a while, I was glad to finally get to try it. This was the first beer of our tasting. Sam got this in a trade from cbkshubert I am pretty sure. Pours out a dark black color with a tan head that starts from the bottom and goes up. Smell is heavy on the roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is smooth and thick, really creamy stuff. Decent level of carbonation. Very good stuff, very thick, interesting. Thanks for this one Sam!

22oz hand bottled from Growler from cbkschubert (thanks a million for this!). Poured a dark, dark black with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, cocoa, caramel, and coffee. Tastes of roast, citrus, coffee, caramel, and I was getting some dark fruits. Alcohol content well hidden. Lacing left on the glass. I’m glad I had the chance to try this one - thanks again!

Hand bottle from cbkshubbert via TURDFERGUSON. Good aroma Chocolate, raisin, caramel/toffee. Bit of a woodiness. Dark blackish brown color. Ok head & lace. Bitter flavor. Roasted grain, fruity. ABV is noticeable in the flavor, Medium body, oily viscous mothfeel, bitter sweet flavor. Very nice. Really liked the mouthfeel . Thanks TF for this rare treat. Made me think I gotta visit my friend I Scottsdale again, soon. My only notes from the NC get together.
