jbean (110), Illinois, USA Dec 22, 2007 Updated: Dec 23, 2007On tap at brewpub. Very impressive appearance, pure black body with mocha colored head w/ good retention. The flavor is slightly sweet, of roasted coffee and notes of chocolate. Palate seems much too heavy for a "dry stout" and is much too heavy to enjoy more than one. An okay stout. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jan 21, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Trevor calls this the "Dry Irish Stout." It is nitrogen pushed. An absolutely beautiful beer: cascades of dark rivlets running down as the head bubbles upward. Very creamy looking. A thick dense creamy off-white head remains atop this ebony beauty. Aroma is like the caramel nuget of a 3 Musketeers bar. The beer has a very smooth palate. It’s roasted and chocolatey, but way less roasted than this brewer’s 85 Schilling Ale. The finish is very dry and and leaves you parched for the next sip. Has a slight smokey flavor and possibly a little almond. Quite good.
