Commercial Description:
Cask, Occasional;
In 1807 Daniel Thwaites was the archetypal “game keeper turned poacher” as he switched jobs from Excise Duty Officer, collecting revenue from the Brewery, to owning and brewing the beer he would later name after himself. An inspired and momentous decision. Lance Williams BrewerTo celebrate and honour the 200 Years of brewing expertise since that day, our Head Brewer has created Thwaites Double Century. Availability Available as a hand pulled cask beer in our pubs and bars and also to take home in a new embossed bottle, Double Century is a truly, commemorative ale, which recognises this historic milestone and celebrates a great achievement in UK Family Brewing. Cheers Daniel Thwaites and Happy Birthday! Double Century FontTasting Notes This refreshing amber coloured premium ale is well balanced with a malty character. Double hopped using English golding and fuggles with the late addition of Bramling Cross to give a bitter orange finish Bottle of Double Century Brand Profile Born 2007 Birth Place Blackburn, Lancashire ABV 4.8% (cask) & 5.2% (bottle) Available Draught

Cask at EBF 2008. Amber colour with a small white head. Aroma and taste of citrus and malts. Some hops in the finish.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Spencer Arms, Chapel Brampton. A copper coloured beer with no condition. The aroma is fruit skins showing signs of tiredness. The taste is slightly better. There are hints of some citicity from the hops but it’s well below average.

Thin white head. Amber body. Faint malty resiny aroma. Dry straw and resin taste with hoppy floral notes. Chalky, sharpish mouthfeel. A bit watery. No real aftertaste. A bit one-dimensional. Still very drinkable. (0.5pt cask at Windsor Castle (the pub, that is.))

Clearish caramel coloured ale. Off-white ring persists atop of it. Toasted malts and fruits (banana, pineapple type) flavours strike the palate with a constant balance. Easy-drinking, tasty malts, small floral hops. Everything contributes and never too much. Well assembled.

Hoppy and citrusy aroma, deep copper appearance with small white head, lots of carbonation, highly hopped, citrus and spicey flavours, very similar to an IPA. Dry bitter finish.
