DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Aug 10, 2008 (Rate mistakenly entered under the pasteurised version, 09/03/08). En Burbage. Thoroughbred?! Thoroughly vile. Quite possibly the most poisonously unpleasant, tainted pint I’ve ever been served anywhere in the world. Left nearly a half in the glass it was that bad-unprecedented. Stale raisins left cooking in a jar on a hot windowsill in Granny’s kitchen for several years. A sourly dried-fruity stale gelatinous twang, and very little else. Extraordinary. One to resample elsewhere. 43235 blankboy (2562), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 1, 2007 Cask at Ye Olde Starre Inne, York. labeled ’Thwaites Thoroughbred Gold’. Pours a clear golden-orange with an average size lasting creamy white head. Nice mild aroma of light citrusy hops backed by sweet malt. Flavour starts quite subtle but then kicks in with a nice amount of hops along with fruit (though thankfully not too much), sweet malt and a short bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good stuff. Magic_dave6 (3642), London, Greater London, England Jul 9, 2007 State bar. Aroma was caramel malts with hints of grass. Taste was thin carweml again from the malts, quite a bit of bitterness an grassy. Not to great, but in good condition. TheGrandMaster (1434), Auckland, New Zealand May 8, 2007 Pint pulled at The Golden Lion in Settle(Yorkshire), a slight cloudiness to the amber colour with a sparkler induced creamy head. A grainy malt aroma. The malty flavour is sweeter, with a touch of bitter hops int he background. It grew on me after a few, but overall a bit bland. jammin7jg (139), Withington, Manchester, England May 7, 2007 [CASK: The Bull’s Head, Piccadilly, Manchester 05/03/07] Not very impressive. A resanoble ale but middle range. Nothing special, not much flavour or taste.
