Brewed as one of the celebratory beers for Thwaites bi-centenary. Named after Alfred Wainwright, the renowned Lakeland author who was born in Blackburn in 1907.
A refreshing straw-coloured beer with soft fruit flavours and a hint of sweetness from the fine malt.

Had at the Carpenter’s Arms in Windsor, England. Poured amber with a small white head. Soft, understated aroma of light sweet malt and a bit of toffee with almost no hop presence. Flavor follows; sweet, a bit of fruit and toffee, almost no hop bitterness to it. Body felt somewhat cloying and undercarbonated. Little flavor, not very refreshing, cloying body. Not impressed.

Cask, Nth Lakes Hotel, Penrith. A welcome sight on a Christmas party night out, despite the high price. Pleasant pale ale, with Thwaites trademark aroma and sweet malty taste. Pretty refreshing, slightly dry finish, but a decent session strength ale.

Cask (handpump) at the Ritz (JDW), Lincoln, April 2008. Golden in colour but more of a bitter than a golden ale. Tangy, slightly earthy hops and biscuity malt. Not exactly exciting but a pleasant enough supping pint.

Cask @ The Coal Hole, Strand WC2. Pours a pale yellow color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty aroma with some citrus hoppy hints. Sweetish fruity malty citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty smooth hoppy bitter finish.

A good taste - bitter/sweet and fruity. Fairly carbonated - a tad thin. A good drop

Sweet hops with a slight citrus aroma. Light amber colour no head. A taste of citrus and hops with a bit of malt. Quite smooth but a bit flat.
