Aug 9, 2006 Draft at the San Jose brewery. All their beers look tasty when they’re first set down; this one had some dingy white head there for a second, too. They all suffer from flatness and wateriness, though, and very few of them smell like very much. This one had some bready and nutty qualities in the mid palate, but nothing to jump up and down about. Can’t imagine how this got to be anyone’s best-selling beer, though it’s not bad.

Sep 19, 2006 On tap. Nice golden body with a white head. A harmonic ale with a moderate, balanced hoppy flavor. Quite refreshing, but not a very memorable beer.

Mar 26, 2006 Very little aroma; jalapeno? Glue? Clear, reddish amber with a white to off-white head. Initial mouthfeel is favorable with some carbonation. Not overly flavorful, but pretty good.. Well balanced, fruity, malty. Not really hoppy at all, but balanced, pleasant and non-offending.

Feb 10, 2009 On tap at Tied House in Mountain View. Ehh it’s drinkable I guess. I was expecting more after tasting the light version first, but this one really didn’t taste much better than the light. They brag about the fact that they don’t use that many hops. Why? Total amateur hour. Amber color, tiny white head. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet malt on the taste with a really muted Cascade hop presence. Mouthfeel average.

Jan 22, 2005 Poured light brown with thin head. Flavor was slightly sweet with a bit of roasted malt however quite mild overall. Beer had good mouthfeel, medium bodied and smooth, but still needs a bit more flavor. They are definitely appealing to the macro drinkers with this one.
