Commercial Description:
Three monkeys brewed this Black IPA and they are within this lively bottle. So, if you choose to pop the cork, be prepared for, "Menage a Singe" - a house full of monkeys. Upon opening, we suggest: Keep your monkeys away from strangers, they bite. Monkeys shatter lamps, use candle light. Have plenty of space, monkeys like to swing. Do you want monkeys in your house? Drink up! And good luck!

750 ml bottle from bhensonb. gusher. pours dark reddish brown with a huge tan head. way over carbonated. aroma of roasted malt and IPA style hopping. same for the flavour. i dont really like black IPAs and this is no exception. the concept should work it just doesnt. tone down the carbonation on this one and itd be the best example ive had.

750 ml bottle from bevmo. Bottle is a gusher, lost about a third down the sink. pours a muddy dark brown color with way too much beige head. The aroma has roasted chocolate malts and some piney hops. The flavor is earthy with biter walnuts, pine resin, roasted malts and dirt. The palate is full with overactive fizzy carbonation. The finish is long and dry-biter. Very tasty, but they need to work on the gusher/over carbonation aspect.

Tied House has never impressed me with anything. This beer did not change that fact at all. Maybe this was a bad bottle, but I think it’s more likely that it was just a bad beer. Dark brown in color with a ridiculously huge tan head. Aroma of cardboard, roast, and some hops. Flavor more of the same, with cardboardy malt, roasted malt, and a little citrusy hop bitterness. Palate a little lighter and flatter than I expected. Felt like I was drinking a mediocre homebrew overall.

I opened this bottle gently after chilling it down in the fridge and it still took forever to pour a full glass that wasn’t mostly foam. There was just an unending slow motion foam spout crawling up into the air and down the side of my bottle. Only fancypants Belgians have ever matched this one in my experience. It’s no big deal and you don’t lose much beer, but I bet it would have been even more dramatic if the bottle were warm. Anyway, the beer pours with an enormous head. It’s intentionally off-style as a "black IPA." The liquid is a dark purplish brown color when held to the light, opaque in all but the smallest quantities. The aroma has spice (rye?), piney hops and a bit of chocolate/roasted malt character. The flavor is similar, but the malt comes through a bit more. There’s a definite dark malt presence, a bit more than I actually care for. The yeast flavor is a bit strong for me, but it’s still a fairly pleasant beer. The flavors don’t meld quite as well as something like Stone’s Sublimely Self-Righteous/11th, but I would definitely recommend it to fans of the black IPA sub-style that seems to be growing in popularity. The feel gets a bit sticky for me.

750ml bottle from BevMo, Salinas. When I opened the bottle the nose jumped chocolate at me, along with floral hops. Cloudy dark brown with a big tan head that laces heavily. Flavor is bitterwith back ground chocolate. A StoutPA (or as the brewers call it a black IPA). I could drink this any day, got to get more bottles!

A very interesting brew. Very very full of flavor. A black IPA. Pours with tons of carbonation. Full of tons of hops and malts. Really good drinking brew.

~Pours a dark brown with "tremendously large" brownish white foamy head that last, good lacing. ~Nice grapefruit hop aroma with roasted malts. ~More roasted malt in flavor than in scent. Roasted malts first followed by bitter hops. Malts overpower, but nicely done. ~Medium, creamy and foamy feel, bitter burnt finish. ~Very nice black IPA. The foam is insane, but once the monkeys settle down turns out to be pretty tasty
