Smooth mouthfeel, sweet caramel with a hint of jammy fruitiness. Interesting, tasty, but definitely on the sweet side. cking (1023), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2007 I’m not 100% sure, but I keep staring at the label on the bottle and I think this is what’s depicted: A baby bird’s head with a human body, on top of the head is a cast iron kettle acting as a hat. A naked body is coming out of it’s mouth, which has black birds flying out of it’s ass.....WHY? The beer has a uniquely pleasant aroma of earthy roasted malt with a milky cream scent. Dark amber pour, thick diminishing head and good lacing. Light to medium bodied, drinks very smooth and silky. Sweet pleasant finish. Creamy dark malt with lightly burnt and nutty bread. Mildly bittering, tasty bottle. Hammster (187), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 10, 2007 Bottle. Poured a transparent brown slightly darker than Aunt Jamima’s with a decent sized off-white head. Malty aroma is slightly sweet. The taste is very interesting and good for a brown--sweet, nutty, with a subtle burnt fruit taste (reminded me a little of an Abby Quad). Finish is nutty and smooth. A good brown and a nice deviation from the norm. thomasacross (129), Edina, Minnesota, USA

Wonderful aroma of malt and bread; dark brown appearance with low foam (but enough is present). Flavor is slightly boozy and very malty. A good regular option for fall, winter and spring. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2007 Bottle. Nice thick bubbly beige head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Color was cloudy brownish. Caramel, nutty, light toasted malt and what I thought was a mix of weak butter and smoke like notes. Light fruity feel over the palate. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with a light bitterness. Somewhat sweet light toasted like finish. MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2007 med brown. scant off white head. fruity sugary aroma that reminds me of a Belgian strong ale. The flavor is not as rich as the aroma, but for a brown ale, not too bad. Overall appropriate light crisp malt flavor with more prominent notes of caramel, malt and faintly fruit finishing slightly bitter, wet but refreshing. Take it for what it is. It beats most American browns... DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Malty sweetness typical for the style - nice balance, not too shabby. A good lunch time beer before a bowl of soup in a bread bowl. Nice in the evening as a night cap. jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA
