Tilburgs Dutch Brown Ale

330ml bottle (Vanha Posti, Tampere) Dark red, healthy light head. Very sweet aroma - enormously malty. Some tuna and artichoke antipasti. Fizzy in the mouth. Strong malty body, but quite mellow, none of the oddity of the aroma.

Pours a watery brown with a foamy, almond colored head. Smells weak, of nuts, slight coffee and thin chocolate. Taste is also very thin, hardly any carbonation or flavor. Just water, caramel and a bit of bite from toffee or roasted coffee. For me, this is a bad beer and even though the style is usually not that good, this even bad by Brown Ale standards.

Bottle in VA: Sweet, dried fruit aroma with a bit of milk chocolate. Pours a translucent brown with a large, creamy head. Very sweet brown ale that somehow manages to be relatively light-bodied, yet pack in complex flavors of raisin and chocolate malt. Very Good. Also it has the strangest bottle I’ve ever seen, and its from Holland. Isn’t that vierd?

From bottle : Nose of chocolate is prominent, with brown sugar and malts. Color is dark brown with red highlights, a half finger offwhite head that goes quickly. Tastes is sweet, a sugary flavor, with a little chololate taste. Medium on the palate, goes smooth.

Bottle in Kaisla, Helsinki. Dark brown with a thick beige head. Raisins, sweet aroma. Taste full raisins and the finish is medium in strength and length. Aftertaste of salmiak.

Poured a brown with red accents. Smells of chocolate, brown sugar and fruit. Taste was a little metallic; besides that flavor was ok. Similar to the flavor.

A Sim rate (on tap at the Flyng Saucer Memphis): Amazing plum aroma. Smells like a Flemish sour only tamer. There’s a hint of strawberry, like a 7-11 Icee. Gorgeous red colour but no head or lacing. It tastes like a sweet and sour version of cherry sour sweets. Delicious!

Bottle. Sour malt and brown sugar aroma. Brown amber with small head. Light brown sugar and malt aroma with a light cardamom finish. Light but enjoyable.
