[330ml bottle at the Retreat, Reading] Odd murky orange-pink colour with a small cream head. Strong, sickly smell of artificial Nesquick strawberry. Candyfloss in the flavour is balanced by the sparkling carbonation, and a dry, sour woody taste behind to make a drink that is more light and refreshing than the aroma would suggest. Don’t believe it’s seen a real strawberry in its life though.

Bottle. Strawberry and cream with some woody notes. Some icing sugar. Flavours are sweet strawberry with some citrus. Starburst in a bottle.

Cloudy orange with a big white head. Strong and sweet strawberry juice aroma. Sweet and artificial strawberry flavour.

Wouldn’t give it a second glance in Belgium of course, but I’m afraid in Cov Tesco I grabbed it. Pinkish murk with a fine lacing collar. Unabashed Strawberry Frutella aroma with tangy, faint dank and wood dabs. Confectionary and biscuit sweetness, lingering wheat, saccharine-dry more than sour. I did give me heartburn, which suggests a dribble of underlying lambic. Mushy, cloyingly sugared, artificially sweetened chemical mess trying to pass itself off as an authentic artisanal product. Quite like it. But you can’t tissue wrap a turd.

RBESG Sheffield 2009, day 3, The Crescent, Manchester. Very sweet strawberry aroma and flavor, with a faint sourness present. it was actually quite enjoyable and refreshing, but more of a soft drink than a beer.
