Cask. At The Duke of Wellington on The Strand, Covent Garden, London. Clear, pale amber, with an average off-white head. Slightly pungent, funky herbal hop aroma backed by grainy-wheaty malt. The taste is low-level bitter herbal hops, slightly acidic, with a long grainy finish. The body’s nice and chewy, solid astringency, very soft yet complex mouthfeel. Excellent - much more interesting than many bitters, I loved that acidity.

Cask conditioned at Tennent’s Bar, Glasgow. Clear golden colour. Bit eggy and light sweet malty with good flavouring hops and medium bitterness.

Cask at The Priory Arms, Stockwell. In appearance, aroma and flavour, very much a classic bitter - simple, balanced beer. A bit of woodiness to the flavour but this didn’t taste like a beer that’s been supreme British champion four times. Looking down the comments, it seems that it can vary from average to sublime - I must have caught it at the former.
