Dry-sweetish roasty raisiny taste with mealy licorice notes. Mid-bodied. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dryish roasty caramelly aftertaste with mealy yeasty notes. It’s not bad, but taste of newbie homebrew. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Courtesy of Degarth. Pours clear brown to garnet with wafer thin white head. The aroma is mild musty fruity esters and some caramel goodness. The taste is mostly yummy caramel candy sweetness and seems to be followed up by mostly dark fruity esters. The caramel note rides the flavor from front to back. Tasty. bermod (119), Jyväskylä, Finland
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Aroma is malty, grainy, slightly roasted, alcoholic and it has some caramel-like sweetness. Palate is smooth, but just too thin. Miksu (2233), Jyväskylä, Finland
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Aug 18, 2007 0.33 l bottle. Mahagony color quickly diminishing head. Sweetish, fruity, resiny, buttery and caramelly aroma with some alcohol. Malty, toasty, caramelly, metallic and buttery flavor. Unpleasant. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 25, 2007 It looks very similar to coca-cola, but I’m afraid it tastes very similar, too! A little roasted malt in there as well, but this was not a successful attempt to brew a porter. And I think it is porper that it is classified as a dunkel, despite the label! | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Draught at the brewpub, dark brown and cloudy and a thick white foamy head. A yeasty aroma with soem malt. A yeasty flavour throughout with a very slight roasted malt flavour. Quite smooth. faroeviking (6123), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 1, 2007 Bottle. 5% alc. Brown colour, average head. Toasted malts and caramel in the aroma. Flavour is sweet with a good roasty maltiness and a little hoppiness. More like a dark lager or half and half than porter. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Small, off-white rim over chestnut coloured, clear beer. Dark malts, toffee, oxydized notes (beer +/- 2 1/2 years old). Sweet bread too, but especially toffee aroma is quite outspoken. Sweetish, with milkchocolate flavour, but still rather dry; darker malts and a leafy flavour. Finishes slightly bitter. Rather light body, certain slickness but palate is rather empty. All in all, not bad, which, in the country of the blind, must make it Oneye King. And to think it belongs to InBev. No, it’s quite OK, and might be a relief if you roam the streets of Peter the Great with more peaceful intent than James Bond. Thanks to Dean.
