Surprisingly light in body, good malty flavours with hops very much in the background. Finish is ok, with the malt character lingering well. Good beer, but was hoping for something a bit more complex. Asda, Carlisle.

Cask. Amber to light brown with a reasonable white head. Tasted of toffee and malts. Very highly carbonated, short finish. Reasonable but a little average.

500ml bottle. Not bottle conditioned. Poured a dark amber/red with a large white head which quickly susided although traces remained throughout the glass.Like previous rater I found the taste disappointing, malty with only a little bitterness and perhaps a little toffee taste but nothing as good as the appearance suggests. In fact I must have been so disapponted that I have just spilt half the glass!

Cask at Coventry Beer Festival 08. Brownish amber. Comforting sweet aroma of honey, even maple syrup. Taste was a disappointment: some pear fruit, but thin and watery with just a hint of bitterness.

Bottle from Booth’s, keswick. Alround rating: Malty sweet, hints of raisins, slight liquirice flavour, but nice and drinkable.

Cask, Alloa Beer Festival 07. Clear chestnut, thin white head. Malty, sweet and some orangey taste in the nose. Mouth is malty, brackish, slightly sour. Watery on the palate with a sour weirdness you’d expect at the end of a bad mild. Not great.

Cask-conditioned at the White Lion, Bristol 22/09/07. Chestnut coloured with next to no head. Malty sweet aroma followed by a malty fruit aroma and no noticeable finish. Seriously dull.

a Ruby coloured ale, with a light malty aroma, and a malty sweet fruity bitter...

Tk2 Bottle at home ... copper brown ... sweet caramel malts... toffee malts ... bit one dimensional ... and definitly over fizzy but still not to shabby 2.3 -> 3.2
