cellar (328), Dublin, Ireland Jul 23, 2008 Dark amber, no head. nice notes of fruit, malt and hops. bitter and bittter finish. great soft mouthfeel. Not carbonated. berkshire_john (1047), Bracknell, Berkshire, England May 12, 2008 50cl bottle from Tesco. Not bottle-conditioned. Very lively pour although this doesn’t seem to be bottle conditioned; copper with a thick beige head that falls back quickly; heady aroma of raisin and alcohol; rich, thick and oily in the mouth, with vinous fruits and chocolate flavours leaving a dry, nutty and moreish finish. An excellent example of the ESB style. DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Apr 29, 2008 Bottle classified as ’local beer’ by Coventrian Tossco. Not very. Rubyish pour with beige suds. Earthy, resinous N.American hop aroma (Galena?) has got me interested straight away. Spiky hops in the mouth, blackcurrant, ash, a late nibble of bread/biscuit. Chocolate infused with something herbal- thyme? Shades of Tunnel. Fresher, earthier and less (roasted) malt-accented than the colouration would suggest. Another impressively hopped bottled bitter from this brewer. Uncomplicated, savoury hop goodness. My kind of beer. TimE (1019), Tokyo, Japan Mar 24, 2008 Dark brown color. Caramel, cherries, apples and milk chocolate in the nose. Smooth balanced mouth, mildly sweet with the milk chocolate coming out quit a bit. Caramel, cherries and milk chocolate linger in the finish.
Maria (3975), Thisted, Denmark Feb 1, 2008 Dark golden with a nice head. The aroma has notes of hops and roasted malt. In the flavour the roasted malts are distinct and they and the hops give a sweetish, slightly bitter and full body. A nice one.
