esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Aug 23, 2009 On tap at Titletown Brewing Company. Copper with a thin tan head. Aroma does smell a bit like a campfire with a log or two of oak, a big stack of roasted barley and a crapload of smoked meat. Taste is of heavy smoke, perhaps liquid smoke and some roasted malt and caramel. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 2, 2009 An extremely appropriate name for this beer: Poured a dark but semi clear copper colour with a small light brown head. A nose so big and full of smoke, i wondered if my breath would smell like a bonfire. Or what would it be like having this beer at at campfire. Would it be too much to handle? Peaty, rich and beefy. Like a big slab of steak. Still wicked smooth considering and so tastey i just had to have another. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 8, 2009 On tap at Titletown. Poured medium garnety-brown with a creamy cap of beige head. The aroma opened with liquid smoke backed by sweet caramels.. cherry and hickory woody character accented.. interesting, but not necessarily enjoyable. The flavor found more of the smoke with pronounced cherry wood notes.. vanilla and caramel at the core.. finished with more smoke and very light earth and oaky bitterness. Medium-bodied and tangy on the palate from the smoke and wood on the palate.. sweet backing didn’t play too well with sharpness on the edges.. still had an interesting finish. Skyview (4003), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 5, 2009 On draught at the Titletown brewpub in downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark copper brown colored brew with a thick off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted dark malt with some chocolate and a hint of smoked jerky. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of toasted dark malt, some chocolate, smoked pork, floral hops and some dark pitted fruits. Finish is like a smoked porter with a lingering smoked jerky and toasted dark malt aftertaste. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 30, 2009 On tap at Titletown. Pours a rich smoky ruby color with light tan head that fades quickly. Aroma is nice smoked malt with notes of bacon and smoke meats. A slight malty fruitiness permeates the aroma and slithers down my nostrils. Ah, smoked beer, nothing finer. Taste is smoked meat, light floral hops, and light citrus hoppiness. Finishes clean and has a creamy mouthfeel. Excellent stuff.
