Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers slipped into the mining camps in the 1800's with the discovery of gold to the West. The majestic Rocky Mountains have inspired the cool refreshing taste of Alpine Glacier Lager. As clean and fresh as the rushing water from icy streams and as brisk as a climb up a frozen glacier, this brew contains the finest ingredients in the Tommyknocker tradition.

A Golden yellow color with a thick head. Nice malty aroma and flavor the beer was a crisp easy to drink beer. The beer finishes cirsp and has very little after taste. This was a simple lager.

Cloudy gold with minimal head / Bready, citrus nose / Light body / Tart, light, lemon and honey flavors / More like a wheat beer.

Bottle sampled. Pours hazy golden with a big, but quickly fading white head. Aroma of sweet malts, slight metallic, and floral hops. The flavor is slightly sweet upfront, grain, floral, and a slight grassy bitter finish.

12 oz. loose bottle from at Sam’s Wines, Downers Grove, IL. The date notches say Sept 27, 06!? I hope their notcher is just off, I’d hate to think Sam’s isn’t diligent about old stock. Pours slightly hazy, dark yellow, as close to amber as it is to pilsener. Malty smell, and some papery oxidation, so it may be an old bottle, but not completely ruined. Decently creamy malt taste, though it was picking up the medicinal taste of old beer already. Hop notes threaded out. I haven’t cared much for Tommyknockers yet, but they seem to always be this close to real improvement.

Bottle with a use by Jan ’07 date. Label says enjoy within four months of expiration date. So I sampled this six months after it’s expiration date and two months after its "drop dead" date. Pours a cloudy straw color with little head/lace, which was not very impressive. Thin aroma. Light mouth feel. Not terribly bad but not anything extraordinary. A bit of an aftertaste. My so-so experience with this may have been due entirely to drinking it after its expiration date. Maybe a fresher one would be better. Not something I’d consciously seek out again.

Palel straw colored. Little fluffy white head. Grassy hops in the nose. Some bready flavors and a dry bitter finish. Not much on the palate. Fair.
