Commercial Description:
This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops. 1997 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Very pretty color very sweet aroma. Highly malty with a caramel vibe. Medium body, medium carbonated. Biggest detractor is the ’’band aid’’ undertone you find in too many small batch craft beers. Overall nice to drink, but nothing overly special. (Why is it microbrews with ultra busy cartoony labels are always meh??)

pours murky mahogany-brown with a thick bubbly tan-sienna head. aroma is tons of fruit, notably bing cherry and pineapple, caramel, brown sugar, treacle, and sweetbread. flavor is tangy fruit with a caramel nuttiness and a bread quality. slight plum and vegetal qualities as well. a little banana nut bread. warming, malty aftertaste. kinda thick, viscous. pretty decent.

Bottle: Poured a reddish brown with not too much head. The aroma was sweet malt and dark fruits. The flavor was sweet, thick, hides the malt and alcohol well, and was easy to drink Overall, a tasty brew.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-chestnut color with a small medium sized tan head. The aroma was sour, tangy, malty and lightly vegetal and lightly fruity. Rather complex on the nose. The flavor was tangy, very very malty and had touches of molasses, caramel, ripe fruity and a long tangy sweet malty finish. The mouthfeel was thick and smooth. Excellent.

Big toasty malt backbone highlighted by a moderately sweet carmel notes with a huge dark plum component and a light, peppercorn peice with a decent sharp hop profile.

Brownish red appearance with no head. Does have classic bock flavor of fruit, caramel, sweetness. Low carbonation/flat mouthfeel. Not impressed.

BOTM club. Amber pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste is somewhat thin and not as sweet as most in this style. Faint caramel and chocolate linger with the finish.
