Commercial Description:
This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops. 1997 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

on Tap, poured a medium brown clear hue with a barley recogonizable white head. A nice caramel and bread malt notes on the aroma. Sweet flavor cloying notes throughout. Warming alcohol finish.

Bottle, part of a cheap ass mixes 6er. I had no idea this beer was strong until right now. It’s overly malty, very sweet and roasty. Not delicious, but damn it went down smooth and i didn’t notice the strength.

Bottle. Pours a deep copper body with thin head. Aroma is nutty, musty, caramel. Flavor is bitter sweet, nutty, caramel and light cereal grains. Mouthfeel is a little off at times.

Minimal head, nice dark color, but the taste is off, with lots of sweetness, that reminds me of cough syrup. I have enjoyed it in the past. Change of recipe??

a bit of a sweet aroma, body seemed thin, but full of flavor, kind of a bit caramel banana mix with some roast malt, wierd combination.

bottle poured a red brown in color with a fizzy head that immediately disappeared. aroma is sweet with banana toffee and plumb. mouth feel is medium with fairly hefty carbonation. flavor is surprisingly rich but the sweetness nears too much, touches of wood and dark fruit, banana perhaps from the yeast. becomes richer as it warmed with more malt coming forward. i did warm up to this towards the end but the sweetness is just a bit too much and the alcohol stays noticeable.

Bottle from a sampler. Hazy brown pour with no head. Grainy aroma with notes of banana and brown sugar. Fairly full bodied taste has notes of banana, pineapple and toffee.
