Smell is nice with some good maltiness and caramel really comes through. Taste has caramel and nutty flavors but is disappointing. Medium body with some alcoholic bite.

Absolutely no head to it and zero carbonation. Slight nutty aroma with a hint of caramel. Flavor the same nutty sweetness. Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Transparent amber/brown pour with a small off-white head. Malty, slightly nutty aroma. Sugary, some roasted malt character and just a hint of slightly spicy hops in the finish. Good beer, but it was missing the complexity of the more outstanding doppelbocks that I’ve had. Radek Kliber (3986), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance: Good looking lager , clear deep amber like with some hints of copper , light smallish top . Nose : Rich , big malt oriented nose. On sweet side with gentle nutty feel , some caramel malts and alcohol was shown as well. Flavor/Palate : potent biting mixture of alcohol and heavy soapy malts. Nutty midlle . At this stage it felt a bit too young with its roughness. This bottle reminded me more of strong mocne than German doppelbocks.11+/20

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 11, 2008 Clear amber with a fleeting tan head. Sweet bread malty smell . Med body and smooth. A sweet toasted malt flavor lingers on for far too long here. One dimensional and pretty weak for a Dopplebock, but it was more drinkable as it warmed up. 103106 Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA

Pour was chestnut brown, crystal clear with a very small foamy head which dissipated quickly. The flavor was mostly candied sugar and some molasses. As it warmed, some bitterness and earthiness came out, but this beer seemed rather simplistic. They didn’t oversweeten, which is a common mistake. Drinkable but forgettable.
