Commercial Description:
This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops. 1997 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Thick creamy taste, definately taste the malt. For some reason It had a taste that made me think of scotch. Looked on bottle and it seems I have a 6 from march 11 2002 unless I really am reading this wrong I have a 5yo beer in my hand and I think maybe thats why I taste a hint of scotch LOL Definately good, but not one I would drive too far to get. I bought it on way back from Padre Island..

Pours out a light brown/copper color with a small white head. Aroma is of caramel with some earthy notes. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, slight chocolate and an earthy flavor lingering throughout. Solid but nothing that stands out.

Aroma is sweet with hints of caramel. Taste is creamy and malty, with hints of fruits and spices, definite fig notes. Not bad overall, the sweetness is not overpowering which can be the downfall of some doppelbocks.

(Bottle) Trade with Ughsmash. White foamy dissipated head with a brown red body. Nose has a great mulled spiced mixed with smoked malt note. Flavour is mildly apple with nutmeg spice. Good.

Hazy dark amber. Raisin and brown sugar in a fairly straightforward, slightly grainy aroma. Sweet, simple toffee taste, with a hint of earthiness. Comes off like a really by-the-numbers doppelbock, which is fine, but my favourite examples tend to have a bit more flair.

Pours a hazy red brown, thin head. Taste was sweet. Dark fruit, sugary sweet, molasses, some toastiness and alcohol. Probably better suited for the winter, rather than a hot summer day.
