Commercial Description:
This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops. 1997 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Poured a dark auburn, with medium off white head. Aroma of dark fruit, alcohol, and molasses. Alcohol was present, but not detracting. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor of dark fruit, caramel malt, bread and chocolate. Sweet upfront.

Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a dark reddish amber color with a big, light tan fizzy head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is of dark malts, molasses, light fruit and alcohol notes. Taste is of dark, sweet malts with notes of caramel, earth, light fruit and chocolate. Medium bodied with an oily texture and ample carbonation. Begins and ends slightly sweet. Ends with a malty, caramel note.

Semi-transparent coffee brown, thin but persistant tan head, just a bit of lace. Smells of caramel, molasses and dark fruit. Taste is big on toasted malt, with notes of caramel, coffee, molasses and pineapple. It’s balanced by a solid hoppy bitterness but little herbal taste. Slightly thick and oily, it coats the tongue nicely. Fruity, nutty aftertaste.

hazy ochre brown with decent beige head. This aromatic double has a nice carmel sweetnees but it doesnt’ disguise it’s 8.2% all that well. Gets’ better as as it goes down. I can see where drinking multiple bottle of this can, truly, make a person act like a butthead. These guys can make beer SOOO much better than Adolph Coors progeny...
