Smooth even body. Sweet malty flavor, followed by a medium herbal hop bite. Alcohol is noticeable, but not overly so. Barleywine light? Kinda. Pretty good! jimhilt (1692), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2006 Pours a two finger light tan head that fades quickly to a thin layer some lace. Cloudy amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel nose. Starts with a sweet caramel/molasses flavor that hides the high ABV, hops make a balanced finish. It would be easy to drink more than one of these. $1.69 for a 12oz bottle from Chalet Party Goshen, In. fuzzy82 (17), Decatur, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 11, 2006 Simply, put this is a clean and malty Dopplebock that is well constructed. The palate is nice and full without being overly sweet. The Hallertau hops play a nice balancing role. gherr (1), Destin, Florida, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Nov 10, 2006 I love this beer! Wonderful taste with solid carbonation, tremendous finish and balance. HAving moved from Colorado to the panhandle of florida I was missing this brew big time... when my local suds shop found it I took the 1st 5 cases right off the truck and into my trunk. If you don’t want a brew with this much volume try the maple nut a great intro to Tommyknocker even for non-beer drinkers. talon1117 (631), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2006 Pour is dark, murky, brown with amber tints; heady is decent, off-white, creamy, and somewhat lasting with minmal lacing. Nose is fruitier than most dopples; deep, rich caramel maltiness and light breadiness with dark fruits and subtle alcohol presence. Flavor is a little bland, notes of rich caramel, nuts, bread, faint chocolate, and a fruity character to round it out. Bitterness is medium-light and almost balances. Finishes fruity and sweet and short. Palate is medium, soft to lively, and a little syrupy with nice alcohol warmth and clean finish. Not a bad try at a dopplebock, but flavor never matched the nose and too thin in body. The best offering from this brewery.
