| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2006 Muddy brown with an orange tint. Off white head with sediment floating. Aroma is malty, caramel, bread, and some chocolate. Flavor is sweet chocolate, brown sugar, bread, and caramel. The chocolate taste quickly dissapears and gives way to an orange flavor that replaces it. Solid body with a good mouthfeel. JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2006 This is good. Very much like Full Sail Boardhead or Lagunitas Brown Shugga. I am surprised they call it a bock; they might have called it an ale or a barleywine.
This beer is opaque and brown. The head lasts as a thing ring, and there is a lot of sediment, especially for a style that so often has little or no sediment at all. There is an aroma of brown sugar, citrus-hops, and fermenting orange juice. Flavor is very sweet, but this has only a hint of the standard bock carmel and sweet malt. Instead, there is more sugar and fruit. Fairly thick. Quite good, especially for the low price, but not very bocky. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 16, 2006 Smelled like warm honey-glazed bread. Lusterous amber color with a mostly fading tan head. It has a pretty shine to it. Mildly musky perfume flavors in the fore followed by a fruity sweetness then a caramel sweetness then some alcohol. The middle is mostly a continuation of the malts and the finish reminds me of liquor spiced dark fruits. I have to be honest and say i really liked the overall beer here a good bit. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 10, 2006 Amber gold pour. The aroma is sweet and malty but with a hint of alcohol spiciness as well. This same spicy (fruity) note carries into the body - working against the deliciously creamy caramel malts. Whether it is the alcohol, Hallertau hops or yeast esthers causing the spiciness, the note throws this off kilter for me. I would love to lay down some of this to age and see if it mellows into something truly beautiful. Yard (45), Senoia, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2005 Sweet, chocolate and sweet. Good to cover up the alcohol flavor. Still like other tommyknockers, the watered down taste remains. Not bad for a doppelbock.
