Commercial Description:
This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops. 1997 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

From bottle, pours a golden amber. Aroma of malt and roasted yummyness. Flavor of bread, some caramel and a slight tobacco hint. It’s warming to drink, but then again I’m cold right now. Full body. Enjoyable.

Flavor is like a fat trip to Starbucks- French vanilla, cream, mocha, and a little crisp grapeness in the end. Very good. Bottled at Abraxas, Miami Beach

Pours rusty brown with a light head and light lacing. Aroma is of banana bread, caramel, black pepper, and wood oil. Flavor is initially quite sweet, big toffee-ish flavors begin, followed by by black pepper, grassy notes, mild citrus, tobacco, and a slight rye flavor. Finish is dry and bitter. Very nice, sweet without being cloying.

Overall Impression: Nice flavor on this beer, enjoyed it, definitely taste some caramel, The lack of bubbles/head on this one are a little unexpected, but all in all had a nice taste to it.

Sweet malty aroma with some roast hints. Clear amber brown with small fine tan head. Caramelized malt flavor with hint of spicy hops, chocolate, roast and light alcohol perceptible. Medium body and mouth feel well carbonated. Finish is clean with moderate bitterness.

Pretty solid. Quite nutty, some chocolate. Mouthfeel is kinda thin and overcarbonated. Pretty quaffable for 8.2%, even though that’s not really what I look for in a doppelbock.
