Fair label - for Tommyknocker, really quite good. Sweet, creamy. Porter is buried under a mocha-latte milkshake. Cereal-roast finish. Market Square Liquors. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Pours like a classic porter and has a nice tan one finger head. Aroma is a nice malt / hop balance. Flavor is roasted malt with some chocolate. The chocolate flavors grow as the glass warms. There is a small hoppy zing on the tip of the tongue. Mouth feel is a bit iffy but this is a pretty nice beer. I don’t get the 14% rating. docsteigs (139), USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Smelled great with rich baker’s chocolate aroma. Pours black with scant head. Tastes rich and warming with heavy chocolate accents and nutty finish. Surprised to see the lower ratings for this one; one of the better winter porters I’ve tried. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Had this beer on 1/28/2007. Aroma is a mild roasted scent. Color is a deep dark amber with a lose head and good carbonation. Taste is light and sweet. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down easy with a smooth feel. Finish comes on with a mild sweetness and roasted flavor with only the slightest hint of coco in the very end that leaves you with a mellow sweet feel. Overall its not a full porter and the cocoa flavor is almost undetectable MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2007 very wheaty, almost rice cake aroma which has fainter notes of chocolate and honey. dark brown with a small slight tan head. pleasant and sweet flavor of chocolate, honey and wheat. nicely balanced. finishes sweet and again rice like. slightly bitter. overall a great chocolate and honey balance knocked astray by rice like off notes of the aroma and to a lesser extent in the flavor. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Pour is a dark black with a small an head. Aroma is deffinatly dark chocolate with some strong roasted malts. Flavor is a bit weaker but i get more of a coffee aspect than anything. No real cocoa in the flavor as the bitter coffee takes everything over. Still not all that bad just not what i was expecting. eboats (897), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 22, 2007 Updated: Nov 25, 2007Bottled. Pours dark brown with a small light brown head. Aroma is heavy chocolate with earth notes, combining to create the tootsie roll. Flavor is sweet candy like chocolate, hint of vanilla with earth notes, and again, tastes like a liquid tootsie roll. Medium to slightly watery body. The sweet chocolate dominates and is almost a little too sweet. Silphium (2144), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Red-brown, translucent body (albeit slightly hazy), thin buff head. Aroma of cocoa puffs. Thin, watery body with cocoa puffs and...cocoa puffs? Soggy and misshapen ones at that. Where’s the beer?
