Location: A friend gave me a 12 oz bottle, I believe it was purchased at a Total Wine in NoVA...it came out of a 6 beer 12 bottle Tommyknocker sampler.
5/4/09

Aroma: Coffee, Coco, Roasted malts,
Appearance: Dark brown color, thin brown head
Flavor: Flavor is light combination of the different ingredients from the nose combined together into a solid sweet flavor, definitely some honey in there as well
Palate: It is a little thin, but it drinks really nicely, not a bad beer, but I mouthfeel, but I get the thin complaints
Overall Impression: I was a little suprised to see a 19 on this one...I liked it way more then that...A nice, not great porter. I mean I’m not going to give it awards, but a 2.6 average seems low.

I am surprised at the score of this beer. 12oz bottle from dashirey in the Educators’ BIF. Pours deep brown with an off-white head. Nose is earthy cocoa, honey, and some chocolate. Flavor is some roast, dusty cocoa powder, sugar, brownies, honey, and a mellow earthy chocolate that pervades. Light bodied (for a porter). Cocoa dominates much of this beer, but it is still interesting overall.

dark brown, medium quickly dissapearing head, lacy. nose is light roasty malt, chcoalte, honey. flavor is roasty malt, chocolate, coffee notes. odd sourness creeps in. medium body, sweet finish with that odd sour after taste sneeking in again. not at all bad, even with the noted sourness. i have another bottle left from the 12 bottle sample pack from liquor depot in monee.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with ruby highlights and a small tan head. The aroma was dryish and roasty with a hint of cocoa and coffee. The flavor was dry cocoa powder with a touch of nut and malted milk and light ripe fruits. The finish was long malty cocoa. Very nice.

Dark cola coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of chocolate (of course), roasted malt, peanuts and quite a bit of coffee scents. Light-bodied; Suprisingly thin for the style with a prominence of chocolate (light) and nutty flavours. The malt wasn’t very noticeable and everything else has also fallen by the wayside. Aftertaste remains light and mellow - nothing large to speak of. Overall, not such a great showing for this one - I’d avoid it if I could again. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 31 December 2006.

had a sweet aroma, and a sweet cocoa taste to it, probably a little too sweet, body also seemed a bit thin for a porter, but overall it was okay.
