12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark red-brown with small tan head. The aroma is obvious chocolate, some roasty and ashy notes, and just a touch of raisin. The flavor is chocolate, a little bit of burnt grain, and a general sweet maltiness. It dries out just a touch in the finish, with some more ashy tones. There’s something a little bit harsh in the aftertaste, a little astringent maybe. But other than that, I didn’t think this was too bad.

Bottle from 2006. Dark brown pour with minimal head and lace. Bitter cocoa aroma. Highly oxidized flavor, I should’ve known with all the evaporation that occurred within the bottle

Found this on clearance at my local shop and glad I picked it up. Pours very dark brown with a great thick head which diminishes pretty quickly and lots of yeast suspended in my pour but doesn’t taste yeasty. Aroma is heavy of coca with hints of roasted malts and a bit of a caramel sweetness. Flavor of coca is strong in the beer, little hops flavor, sweet malt flavor in there as well. The alcohol doesn’t really fall into what I would consider a "warmer" since there is no feeling of warmth from this at all. Flavor reminds me a lot of the Frederick Miller Classic Chocolate Lager but not as strong of a chocolate flavor. But overall is a much better beer than I was expecting. Will definitely pick this up again. Great dessert beer!

Pours transparent brown with a fizzy tan head that is gone in about 10 seconds. Nice powdered chocolate and nutty aroma. The flavor and body are hugely disappointing, has hints of flavor present in the aroma but they are very muted. Pathetic palate, very thin and watery, leaves zero lacing. Very disappointing beer, could have been pretty good with a little more body and character. I’m ashamed I paid $10 for this 6pack.

Darkish brown pour, tan head. Smells of the mentioned cocoa. Quite a bit of cocoa, but not enough sweetness or maltiness to balance so it was a bit sour. Pretty clean finish. Not terrible, but I think they could have done better.

Bottle dated October 2006: This poured brown in color with a moderate beige head. The nose is a bit oxidized with scents of chocolate, sweet & sour sauce and nuts. In the mouth it is qutie sour…and that’s about it. Only the sourness shows through at this point. This did not age well.

Pours dark brown, nearly black with a small tan head. Aroma of cocoa, similar to that of powder cocoa mix. Slight flavor of coffee but finishes with a bitter dark chocolate taste. Very thin taste and appearance. not too impressive.

Pours a dark nutty brown colour, small tan head. Aroma is very sweet, and nutty of course, enticing- of almonds, ginger and cocoa. Light mouthfeel, nicely carbonated, but a little too sweet for me. Cocoa flavors all around. but too rich for my palate.
