Tan color. Smell of malt, minor hops and coffee. Taste of water down coffee and coco beans. A little caramel at the end of the bad bitterness. Maybe too much bitterness.

Bottled. Poured clear, medium reddish-brown with a medium cap of beige head. The aroma was Hershey’s syrup right off the bat with light roast to it.. very sweet with some caramel and honey as well. The flavor was painfully sweet with cocoa powder and honey leading the way.. kinda like liquified chocolate cake on the back.. sticky finish with ashy, sticky black patent, cola, and cocoa. Super sweet on the palate and a touch shy of medium-bodied.. tacky on the back.. just not a whole lotta good going on.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, $1.50. Very dark brown, almost black... small front of a head. Malty nose, chocolates, cocoa (I guess). Bland, unsweet cocoa flavor... watery mouth. Some grassy/leafy aftertase.

12oz bottle: Deep black pour with a healthy brown head that settles into a suitable cap. The aroma is heavily dusted with rich cocoa, with softer notes of sweet caramel and fudge beneath. An earthiness arises as the beer warms. Creamy mouthfeel. The chocolate onslaught continues in the body as notes of cocoa powder, milk chocolate and brownie batter take over. The finish is sugary sweet and leaves me wanting more. A nice twist on the tradiional style.

Pour is thin and lacks a decent head. Aroma of strong cocoa flowery/sweet chocolate. Appearance is dark but somewhat translucent for a porter. Flavor is pure bitter chocolate. Awful.

This beer pours black with a thin white head. The aroma is like milk chocolate. It smells like Hershey syrup....not something I was looking forward to smelling. The body is very thin as is the flavor. It has a slight taste of roasted malt and a little Hershey syrup character. This beer is not that good. Go buy Young’s Double Chocolate Stout and stop messing around.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice light brown, tea-ish color with a small, fine, wispy head. Aroma is strange and unpleasant, dominated by almost a scorched earth smell or perhaps burnt rice and even some rubber (new car tire) and vegetative notes. Flavor is better with some cocoa and roasted malt, though still a bit vegetative. Dry. Medium-light bodied and smooth with moderately low carbonation. This isn’t a drain-pour, but its got some problems for sure. On the other hand, it looks good and is smooth and the flavor is average - just hold your nose!
