It smells like Hershey syrup....not something I was looking forward to smelling. The body is very thin as is the flavor. It has a slight taste of roasted malt and a little Hershey syrup character. This beer is not that good. Go buy Young’s Double Chocolate Stout and stop messing around. surffisher (196), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Apr 22, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice light brown, tea-ish color with a small, fine, wispy head. Aroma is strange and unpleasant, dominated by almost a scorched earth smell or perhaps burnt rice and even some rubber (new car tire) and vegetative notes. Flavor is better with some cocoa and roasted malt, though still a bit vegetative. Dry. Medium-light bodied and smooth with moderately low carbonation. This isn’t a drain-pour, but its got some problems for sure. On the other hand, it looks good and is smooth and the flavor is average - just hold your nose! Butters (1653), Virginia, USA

Nose of hot chocalate with faint hints of spice miniscule alcohol notes peaking through. Flavor is heavily balanced between toward cocoa but with a good standard porter base. Smooth finish. Impulse buy during winter to celebrate some good birds, didn’t let us down! Definitely would buy again. dyetube (417), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 25, 2008 this beer pours a deep brown/ruby red with a thin tan head. Aroma is hot cocoa. Very intersting beer, but I wouldn;t classify it as a porter, there is not enough chocolate or roasted coffee for me. but, as a winter warmer this would be a nice twist! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Pours dark, cocoa water brown, decent 2 inch tan head, but it doesn’t last long. Aroma of pure cocau. (That’s coke - aohe) for all you gringos. Dry cocoa taste. Good cocoa flavor, this beer deserves more desert credits than its got. I’d like to drink it instead of eat (nose-in-the-air-foo) for desert. jkwalking05 (1501), Arlington, Texas, USA

Pours a deep, dark brown with beige head. Aroma of nice cocoa and light malt. Flavor has notes of semi sweet cocoa, light roasted grain, malt, smooth. Mouth feel is medium body with medium high carbonation. Overall, kinda weak for a "Winter Warmer" and I wish it had more body....None the less, it is tasty.....from seeing my last rating, it’s best to get this one really fresh.....
