Quite a delicious brew! Deep brownish-black color with a tight head, giving way to slight effervescence. Rich hot-cocoa-like aromas coupled with a touch of honey creates a nicely balanced flavor. Very low hop presence, but good for this style. Slight alcohol flavor tames the sweetness nicely and essentially makes this brew quite quaffable! Would be an axcellent pairing to rich desserts, or possibly hearty meats in main courses, such as certain types of game. Other reviewers must have gotten infected bottles, because this tasted like liquid gold to me!!

Nice aroma of malt, chocolate, roated malt, touch of honey. Poured a mahogany with a small, thin head. Left light lacing. Flavor is a dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa with a light touch of honey. Light in body, thin texture, very light carbonation, a long bitter then sweet finish that is pleasant. This is a nice beer. Its enjoyable flavor is predominently cocoa. I like it, but it is very thin and light and I like a bit of a head on my beer with some carbonation, both of which lack in this. A nice beer, definitely worth a try. I like it, but would rather have a Mackeson’s. Will definitely have again.

Excellent Porter! Reminded me a lot of Sam Smith's. Nice, frothy brown head. Aroma has a roasted chocolate quality which mimics the great flavor. Goes down very smooth for a porter. Medium-full bodied goodness. Rerate: I tried this beer again and it was average at best. Im not going to change my rating because I feel like it was just a bad bottle. Based on what some of the others on here have said I would venture to guess that this beer is very inconsistent from bottle to bottle. It was borderline infected the second time around. My first attempt at this beer was excellent though.....I guess the beer has potential. And, why does this beer only have 5 ratings and 4 of the 5 have Austin ties? Its made in Colorado.

Smells like cocoa not coffee, so that’s a good a start. Taste is nice, wtih great chocolate characters. Really a good winter beer. Maybe since it’s not too sweet people are scoring it low per style but I don’t care, I like it.

Cocoa flavor was nice. Impulse buy during winter to celebrate some good birds, didn’t let us down! Definitely would buy again.

Smelled great with rich baker’s chocolate aroma. Pours black with scant head. Tastes rich and warming with heavy chocolate accents and nutty finish. Surprised to see the lower ratings for this one; one of the better winter porters I’ve tried.

Pours a deep brown with mahogany highlights and decent tan head that dissipates rapidly. Nose of hot chocalate with faint hints of spice miniscule alcohol notes peaking through. Flavor is heavily balanced between toward cocoa but with a good standard porter base. Smooth finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with ruby highlights and a small tan head. The aroma was dryish and roasty with a hint of cocoa and coffee. The flavor was dry cocoa powder with a touch of nut and malted milk and light ripe fruits. The finish was long malty cocoa. Very nice.
