Rich, deep brown colour with a small cream head and an aroma of dark fruits and caramel. Good caramel flavours in the mouth, helped by a very smooth palate. This isn’t that complex but it is a good strong ale, that puts me in mind of English barley wines. hughie (3061), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

Sweet oaty malt aroma. Intensely sweet taste with leather, nuts and black toffee. Full of flavour and very agreeable. Interesting peachy backtaste. Mid bitter finish. Good stuff. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear brown with a small off white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is subdued - chocolate malts, grains and a touch of maple and alcohol.
The flavor is sweet chocolate and maple/molasses with a slightly bitter charred alcoholic finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full with smooth carbonation.
Overall, an OK beer. It’s not very well balanced between the the cloying sweetness and the charred alcohol. hombrepalo (773), Chicago, Illinois, USA

The aroma in nutty and filled with chocolate and caramel. The flavor is similar to brownies and quite rich with nutmeg, chocolate, and maple syrup. This was a good one.
