poured brown and hazy with very little head if any,aromas of alcohol and malts taste of the same but alcohol comes thur more than any thing else has a slight taste of an imperial stout from the massive amounts of mallts and hops, its is a brown ale on steroids great idea from brewmaster but they had to find a catagory to put it in so they came up with an american strong I don’t think so

This was an easy drinking high abv brew. I enjoyed every sip. From the potent first to the very sad it was my last.

pours a dark mahogany brown with little head and some yeasty sediment. A surprisingly sour/aroma with a sweeter roasted salty nut flavor. Salted Pecan in a sweet malt is the best i can explain it. Very interesting brew and way better than the other(s) Tommy knockers I’ve tried.

22oz bottle from Countryside Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark mocha brown with a thick, dense tan, frothy head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted sweet malt, dark chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla, and a hint of spice. Flavor is very much the same but with a heavier coffee notes and a slightly bitter, coffee finish. Medium to heavy mouthfeel. Nice ale.

THOUGHTS: Wow. I’m glad I picked this one up. Never had any Tommyknocker beers before. If the rest are anywhere near this good, I need to try more. Picked this on up in Virginia, though, while on vacation and I’ve never seen any of their beer in NJ before. It was sort like a slightly watered down Dogfish Head. Not real complex, but with flavors like this I don’t need many more. It did get a little cloying after a while. It probably could’ve used a little more hops to balance things out. Way lighter than I was expecting. Hid alcohol incredibly well. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark brown with orange highlights and an extremely small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left virtually no lacing. The aroma was very sweet. There was moderate to heavy chocolate and coffee malts and maple syrup. The initial flavor was moderate to heavily sweet; while the finish was heavy to harshly sweet and lightly bitter when it was cooler and moderately sweet and moderately bitter when warmer with an average duration. There was mostly maple syrup that turns into coffee. A little more hops come out in the finish as it warmed. The medium body was a little syrupy with soft carbonation. and a metallic finish.

Creamy brown pour. Pretty sweet with roasted nut, toffee, caramel. Pretty sticky, first time I’ve seen the "Imperial" done with a nut brown. EIther their amount of hops were low, or they are overpowered by the sweetness, not as much bite as it could have, hence the finish is quite lingering. A good try at something different.

12oz. bottle, with thanks to Pete! Pours a slightly cloudy brown with a thin tan head, minimal spots of lace. Aroma is cola like, with nuts and toffee as well. Taste has caramel, toffee, light cocoa; also nutty and sweet. Enjoyable, even on a hot summer day, but nothing too exciting. Thanks again Pete!

Bottle, $3.99. Pours deep brown, nutty sweet alcohol aroma. Burnt, medium bitterness with a hint of salty sweetness. Earthy, mossy aftertaste. Good, but not the best nut brown ale.
