| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Pours dark brown with some crimson where the light comes through the edges. Thick light brown head rapidly dissipates. The aroma is malt, nuttiness, and maple as it warms. The flavor is roasted malt, brown sugar, maple syrup. Not excessively sweet. The alcohol warmth comes through at the end. The maple syrup flavor isn’t as strong as I remember in the Maple Nut Brown Ale. This is a very drinkable beer, though it is high ABV. after4ever (2806), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 2, 2007 12-oz. Thanks, Boboski! Black. Thick brown moussy tan head that falls quickly to a slim rim of film. Lots of webby lacing all around the glass. Nice chocolate, maple syrup, and cherry nose--sweet and delectable. Medium body, almost light and watery, soft carb. Booze is well-hidden, except for a bite on the finish. Chocolatey, nutty, mapley mid-palate. Clean finish. NeonLX (258), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Updated: Dec 3, 2007I was intending to grab a sixpack of Stevens Point St. Benedict’s Ale but saw this first & decided to give it a whirl. From a 12-oz. bottle, this pours a dark coffee brown with a moderate tan head. Aroma is surprisingly subdued grain & yeast with a hint of cocoa. First taste is nutty toffee with a brown sugar follow-up. Some minimal bitterness in the finish but mainly sweet & lingering graininess. Slightly watery for an "Imperial" brew. Alcohol is well hidden however. Pretty decent.
Rerate Dec 2, 2007: Letting this warm up in a glass helped bring out the taste considerably. A lot more flavor comes through, including some extra chocolate & of course maple syrup. I’m kicking the ratings up a notch as a result. MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 22, 2007 Bottled. Dark amber glows ruby in the light with a small light brown head, almost non-existant. Aroma is light earthy notes, mostly soil, but not a whole lot there. Flavor is sweet, earth notes with the ever so slightest notes of what pretends to be bitter at the end. Body is watery. Very generic and too sweet. milewide (616), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
