Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

Dark mahogany pour...short, yet bubbly head. Aroma is pretty strong chocolate with some malt scents. Flavor is malty with some roasted nut and brown sugar accents...not half bad. Alcohol doesn’t really stand out, but there is some warming late in the drink. Somewhat watery with an odd mouthfeel for an ’imperial type’ beer, but then again, everything is ’imperial’ these days. Would drink this one again.

12oz bottle coutesy of eaglefan538. Aroma was sweet and if you everhad them chocolate covered peanuts. Dark bod with decent head. Medium bodied brew that gives you what youwould get from a good Porter. Malty sweet with a good mix of coco, nut and alcohol was in the background and not that noticable. Smooth on the palate enjoyable brew, thanks Brian

I just rated this, but it didn’t take - apologies if it turns out to be a double post - poured dark, looked like flat cola (the beer wasn’t flat-just that bubbles were not noticeable) - minimal head but retained a bit. Full bodied smell - alcoholic and sweet - tasted = sweet but not over done - could be mistaken for lighter stout. Overall, very tasty

Dark brown (almost black) pour with tan two-finger head. Aroma is malty sweet with hint of cotton candy. Palette is thick. Moderately sweet with a strong burnt flavor. Stout like.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of nuts, berries, and brwon sugar as well as light notes of wood. The flavor is very sweet with a pronounced note of alcohol combined with strong notes of berries and nuts as well as medium notes of pumpernickle bread and brown sugar, leading to a dry finish. The alcohol burns slighlty in the throat.

Pours thinly to a deep shade of mahogany, mild opacity with spits of sediment suspended throughout. Chocolate raisins, raspberries, maple graham crackers, and a hint of wild rice suggest a successful merger of rich nuances. It’s a bit earthy; some caramelized sugar, latte overdone with some kind of nutty sweetener and partially indicitive of a dense but asinine red wine. The flavor is sugary, dark, and forward, but simple. Wild rice soaking in honey, heat with a brandy disposition, red pepper. Glistening and strangely cold metallic tones collide with crude alcohol that has a bright fruit liqueur banality. Simplistic and very close to ugly in general. Plenty of density and warmth in the mouth, lightly carbonated, sweet and touched with salt. Oak and heat again in a drying finish. Certainly an overambitious attempt and more or less a failure, but it’s hardly contemptible.

355 ml, notches may indicate 2nd week of May? Nearly opaque chocolate with a small but lasting head with crusty lace. Aroma is malty molasses and cocoa. Flavor is cocoa, sour cream, earthy maple, slight gunmetal and charred wood, light fruity alcohol. Palate is creamy smooth with just enough hop dryness on the end. Great, highly underrated beer.
