Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

Pours a deep mahogany brown witha fast vanishing tan head. Aroma of burnt malts, carmel and alcohol. Taste is semi-sweet and sticky. Tastes like nutty maple flavored caramel. Alcohol is hidden well. It’s not a very subtle beer, but I still can’t decide if I like it or not. I agree with other raters that have said that the flavors are a bit "artifical".

Pours a brown, almost black color with burgundy highlights. Creates a 1/2" dense tan head which fades to a paisley patterened wispy coating. Minimal spotty lacing. Emits rich, pleasant aromas of toffee, maple syrup, molasses, hazel nuts, raisins, cocoa powder and brown sugar. Full, chewy round palate with a fine, subtle carbonation. Flavor much like the aroma, but not as rich and hefty as one would expect from the nose. Pleasing notes of dark fruit, cocoa, toffee, roasted malts and molasses with a faint hop and alcohol presence to tame the sweetness. Unfortunately, seems to have a slight weird mid-palate watery thiness that detracts from the enjoyment. Overall very reminiscent of an English-style Barleywine to me. The 9.8% abv is almost unperceptible. At $3.99 a bomber it’s a good deal and certainly worth another visit or two.

Bomber, poured dark brown with a off-white head that quickly faded, light sweet nutty fragrance, light brown ale taste, little chocolate, smooth but not a lot on the taste buds, looks tasty but lacking when its in your mouth, can feel the alcohol in the background, I like brown ales, I was expecting much more.

Pour is very dark brown with garnet highlights, head is average, beige, pillowy, and mostly diminishing with plenty of tight lacing. Nose is molasses, maple syrup, toffee, and chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, toffee, maple syrup, lightly nutty, maybe light toasted bread. Bitterness is so bubdued, but never allowing the sweet flavors to be cloying. Palate is medium-full, moderate, and almost silky. Finishes with maple syrup and light cedar wood-like character. Nice offering from a brewery that is not known to make great brews. Extremely drinkable at 9.8% and worth every sip. Sweet and like a a strong semi-dark strong ale with plenty of ’syrup’ qualities. If you like like strong beers and sweet beers, you can’t miss with this one.

Looks great out of the spout; dark brown with little to no head. That’s about the end of the fun though. The aroma has a bit of maple to it, but is quite malty. Not much to the taste but leaves a bit behind. I wouldn’t waste my time on this one.

Poured an extremely dark brown, only the hues on the edges showed it wasn’t a stout. Poured with almost no lacing head. Smells of malt, maple, sugar and a faint aroma of alcohol. Initial flavor is malty and sweet with flavors of maple, caramel and grainy bread. Finish kinda ruins this beer, medicinal with the alcohol heat and at the very end a burnt flavor. I loved the concept of this beer so they get high marks for trying but the execution is lacking at the finish.

Wow, darn good beer. Very smooth mouthfeel with extremely well hidden alcohol. I get a lot of caramel and chocolate flavors. Very drinkable. I would guess this is more around 6-7% alochol.

Aroma is alcohol, and light chocolate, flavor is maple, nuts, light chocolate, dark coffee. Thick mouthfeel, and theres even this actual coffee finish. I dunno, its just not for me.
