Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

Rated this on October 8, 2006. The aroma was of molasses and caamel. The head was creamy, light brown and fully diminishing. The body hue was dark brown/black. The flavor and finish was a light to moderate sweetness with a slight acidic tone in the finish. The body was light to medium, the texture was creamy and the carbonation was soft.

22 oz. brown bomber. No freshness date seen, but it’s a very fresh sample. Poured out a deep brown, with red highlights. My pocket beer engine produced a healthy tan colored head. Aromas are of maple syrup, toffee, caramels, and malts galore. No discernible hop aromas. Flavors are of maple syrup, Brach’s caramels, sweet malts. Alcohol is well hidden. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Slick, but not oily. Decent body, especially for a syrup beer. Aftertastes are of maple syrup. Decent beer overall. I’m impressed.

Clear, very dark brown/red color with medium sized dark tan head. Aroma is malty, notes of cherry and vanilla, hint of vinegary tartness. Flavor is malty, fair amount of caramel, vanilla, slightly nutty, touch of tartness, with a fairly sweet finish.

Bottle. Sweet dusty aroma. Dark brown colour, small amount of gunk. Small light brown head. Sweet flavour with a nice creaminess. Unfortunately sour aftertaste.

22 oz. bottle on 10/22/06. Deep mahogany pour with a medium light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel and roasted malts. Slightly sticky medium body with light carbonation. The maple syrup is certainly evident in the flavor, to the exclusion of anything else. Not much hop character evident. Finishes quite sweet, qulaifying it as more of a "dessert beer" in my opnion.

Courtesy of Pailhead. Medium/dark brown, tan head. Initial aroma seems very oxidized. Nutty toastiness with residuel sugar. Flavor is dark roasted grains, coffee and residuel sugar. Very thin body. Average at best.
