| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown with a film of bubbles. Nose0nutty, musty. Taste-woody, high brown ale, spice, sawdust. Taste like a normal brown ale with some must and spice, and roast. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 3, 2006 bomber picked up at a local store. up front this had a decent aroma and taste, but on the finish it seemed too sweet and lacked any lingering flavor. rich brown in color with a small tan head after a vigorous pour. aroma was of caramel, molasses and some brown sugar. flavor was more of the same with some dark chocolate and alcohol. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 23, 2006 Tasted in Boulder Co on 2006 SCTE conference trip. 650ml bomber. Tasted in hotel bathroom glass. Pours a deep brown, with little or no head and a slightly reddish hue. Aroma is very very sweet, candy floss like sweetness, or very nasty bubblegum. Flavour is almost a stingingly sweet adventure in fear. Can’t find the maple flavour in this one, just very damn sweet like eating a box of splenda....sweet. wintersdying (49), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2006 on first smell, this reminded me of dogfish head’s immort ale. this is a good thing. esp. since i usually don’t care for nut browns, or brown ales of any kind for that matter. pours a syrupy ruby-brown, with slight tan head. aroma is sweet and almost buttery. very smooth, full and creamy, with balance between sweet and bitter. expected typical (nut) brown ale flavors really are only evident in the finish. I like this. and that’s saying a lot; considering my predisposition towards brown ales (as i’ve repeated over and over in this review) DCJack (146), Alabama, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 8, 2006 22oz bomber, bottled date is the 11th of some month, 2005 (no notches on any of the months). Aroma of nuts, caramel, a little sour yeast, raisins and grapes, alcohol. Sour grapes up front, some chocolate and caramel also there, but the sourness is too much. Alcohol is covered up well. This beer is almost flat, watery. Not too great. Pailhead (2602), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 3, 2006 Bottle: I’m not positive, but I believe this is courtesy of Secret Santa. Chocolate and nutty aroma with hints of dirty wash clothe. Pours a dark reddish-brown with moderate transparency and a small tan head. Sugary maple syrup up front with some light nuttiness in the middle. I get what seems like a woody bourbon finish with some oxidation and nuttiness. A the sweetness and nuttiness just aren’t meshing to me. noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2006 Nice Dr. Pepper-brown/black pour with a decent off-white sudsy head which ebbs slowly leaving a nice trail of lace. Aromas are sweet and toasty malt, candy sugar, maple syrup, peat, smoke, brandy, alcohol and dark fruit, with a background of vanilla cream cappucino. Flavor was sweet toasted malt, maple syrup, vanilla, milk chocolate, toffee, espresso, and charcoal. Not much hop comes through save for a moment of bitterness in the finish. Nice slightly thick mouthfeel.
