Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

Mohogany color with a creamy tan head. Light nutty aroma. Sweet and light nutty flavor but a tad astringent.

Mahogony beer with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet and caramel. Flavor is overly sweet with significant alcohol present. Interesting but not great.

Dark brown and thick tan head. Rich malty body, very sweet and thick. Minimal hop bitterness, sticky syrup feel. Overall a tasty and unique interpretation of a brown ale.

Dark brown pour. Sweet, maple aroma with notes of old leather. The flavor was full of vinegar on top of sweet syrup. The alcohol was quite noticable. Mouthfeel was thick and syrupy. Past its prime? Let’s hope.

22oz bottle. I must say I’m excited about this one: an imperial nut brown, interesting concept, let’s see if they can pull it off. Pours extremely dark brown with a 1" brown head. Aromas of bubblegum, sweet malts, slight maple. Thick and syrupy in the mouth, with a definite natural maple flavor. Very interesting, and I enjoy it- but it’s a bit too sweet for me to want to revisit regularly... the more I drink, the less I want. Hmm... ease up on the sweetness a bit and this’d gain a few extra points.

Brown Coloring with Dark Yellow/Tan Ring. Sweet Malt Aroma. Light Hops and Nut Flavor. Initial Hit of Maple. Smooth and Light Rich Notes of Maple Sweet Malt Behind a Nutty and Lightly Hoppy Ending. Interesting Brew.

Syrupy pour, settling in as a deep, opulent chestnut brown, nearly opaque with some safire hues when put to light. Dehydrated grey saliva wisps for the head. Maple nut fudge leads the aroma, followed by imitation vanilla extract, chocolate covered hazelnuts and pecan syrup over pancakes. Viscous maple traits splatter across the palate. There’s no question about the maple syrup. Some natural honeycomb meets Golden Grahams cereal. Other flavor farce brings on cinnamon hotcakes, but easy on the spicing. Boozy, sickly sweet and it’s becoming far too much to even moderately enjoy. Oozing mass on the palate. We’ve got classified carbonation and sweet malts but not a trace of any bittering agents whatsoever. Finishes like sugary coffeecake. This was 22 ounces of pain.
