Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

12 oz bottle. Poured a cloudy amber color, good lacing. Aroma was maple, brown sugar, caramel malt. Flavor was very malty up front, some molasses and maple notes, abrupt finish. Less maple than I expected. Palate was a bit thin, not too bad though. Overall very drinkable.

Bottle, dark brown color. Coffee and toffee aroma. Heavy malt taste up front with nice compliments of sweetness and a little taste of hops. Good beer but it seems that it needs to be thicker or something.

Bottle at OT. This is a big brown ale. It has loads of caramell and fruit aroma. A big lasting head. Lots of nice maltiness but also a small sweetness from the maple syrup. The bitterness is medium but also a small metallic taste. This is a good beer for the x-mas sweets.

Bottle. Very sweet fruity aroma. Deep brown body, no head. Flavor is moderately sweet, maple and caramel, with lots of woodiness. Not bad at all.

A deep reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. In mouth, a clean nutty sweet aroma. In mouth, a sweetish malt with light cinnamon and some boiled veggie notes. Heavy, oily and a bit cloying. On tap at RFD, Jan. 6 2009.

Bottle (22oz) My bottle shared with blankboy, garthicus, GregClow and tupalev. Murky deep brown with tons of large floaties and a small beige head. This bottle HAS been sitting around for a while .... Dusty-dry aroma, leafy, nutty and lactic, underlying roast sweetness. The taste is quite different - boozy, a little stale/sour, soft dry herbal bitterness, but the malt seems thin and stretched, a little papery (yes, I guess this bottle IS old). Average body, a little acidity and dryness with the alcohol emerging slowly in the finish - it’s still drinkable, not bad, even if it is AARP-eligible.

Bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very deep ruby-orange with a small diminishing off-white head. Mild aroma of malt, nuts and light green hops. Flavour’s sweet, malty and musty along with some very light hops, nuts and alcohol. Average bodied. Disappointing, it’s O.K. but I expected better.
