Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 6, 2007 Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of nuts, berries, and brwon sugar as well as light notes of wood. The flavor is very sweet with a pronounced note of alcohol combined with strong notes of berries and nuts as well as medium notes of pumpernickle bread and brown sugar, leading to a dry finish. The alcohol burns slighlty in the throat. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 25, 2008 Updated: Oct 1, 2008Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Mahogany colour, small beige head. Caramelly nose. Sweet with medium to full body. Dominated by malt syrup and molasses. Fruity and caramelly with some roasty coffeeish notes and warming alcohol. Fairly low bitterness. Warming but a bit sticky. Papsoe (10459), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 28, 2006 (Bottle 65 cl) Clear, reddish brown with a creamy, beige head. Sweetish malty and fairly alcoholic aroma. Quite a full body with sweetish malty and nutty accents. Rich and wholesome. Has a dry but not overly bitter finish. 210906 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 9, 2008 Pours a muddy chestnut with a head that froths up but doesn’t hold. The nose has some varnish-like phenols and notes that combine blackstrap, caramelized pears and baked beans. The flavour is heavy on the baked beans, a little wood, a lot of molasses. Moderately sweet, drying out a bit late. Somewhat tart, which is distracting but not altogether bad. I just don’t see this beer going anywhere. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 22, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy deep amber to hazzlenut brown with a small lacing tan head. Caramel and malty to molasses aroma. Maple syrup perhaps? Sweet mouthfeel. Sweet flavoured of syrup and caramel, light hoppy bitterness showing through. Breadish malt base flavour into a smooth sweet finish. Light fruity too.
