Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

Poured from a bottle into a standard shaker pint. Appearance was a hazy, dark brown. Malty smell with alcohol coming through on the nose. The maple syrup really comes through in the taste, along with some chocolate and a nutty flavor. A nice strong alcohol burn at the finish.

Thanks bitbucket! Chocolate brown, small bubbly head. Cinnamon and burnt pine. More toasted wood, sharp sugary sweet nose.

12oz bottle from bitbucket. Imagine that, maple brown color...odd, I know. Slightly tart and metallic malted sweet syrupiness with some hazelnut. Slightly thin feel and the flavor is bit unassertive. Pretty thin on the flavor earthy leaves, brown sugar, swisher sweets tobacco. A little thin and boozy and just don’t get that much maple.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a crystal clear reddish brown colour with a low disappearing off-white head. Strong and clean caramel aroma with notes of wood, nuts and burnt sugar. Nearly full-bodied with touches of burnt caramel, resin, fudge, caramilazed sugar and maybe some vanilla. Long clean a nd rather intense finish of caramel, cherries, figs, resin and mild spices.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown color with a minimal, frothy white head. Lacing is moderate. Aromas of maple syrup, toasted malts, brown sugar, and hints of chocolate. Moderate mouthfeel with a sticky finish. Flavors of maple syrup, chocolate, toasted malts, and a bit of raisin at the end. Good quality beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark, clear, reddish brown with slight, almost nonexistent tan head. The aroma is sweet caramel, mixed nuts, and yes, maple syrup; there’s also a roasty note in the background. The flavor is maple syrup a pretty strong woodiness. Not woody like oak, woody like commercial lumber. There’s a husky nut taste in there that I’m not too fond of. The finish is earthy with a bit of caramel sweetness, and a sort of dry earthiness lingers into the aftertaste. Ok for what it is, I suppose, but not my cup of tea.

Thought this was going to pack a punch with the maple. But although thin, it will sneak up on you from the 9% ABV. Malty maple notes with slight hops and oak on the finish.
