Commercial Description:
An American-style wheat ale brewed with 30% malted wheat and 2 row barley. Low hopping rates allow the refreshing aroma and citrus flavor of a late addition of lemon grass to dominate. This unfiltered beer retains all of its protein, flavor, and some of its yeast, resulting in a traditionally cloudy appearance. 2000 North American Brewers Asc. Gold Medal

12 oz. bottle pours dark yellowish gold with lots of internal carbonation but no head. Not opaque as I’d expected for an unfiltered beer. Mild aroma of corn and wheat. Flavor is of mild lemongrass perhaps with a finish of yeast and hops. Perhaps it is my untrained palate but this is a poor example of an unfiltered wheat ale with little to no flavor at all.

A so so wheat ale. Aroma was a weak mix of lemon and yeast. Pour was a nice deep gold with a two finger white head. Taste was a little sweet for a wheat ale. A little citrus in the aftertaste and not much in the front. Medium carbonation and slightly heavier mouthfeel than I care for for a wheat. Very middle of the road.

A pretty nice brew, the lemon grass is a nice touch ... good foam 4 an american wheat ... a cross between a witbier and a fruity kolsch ... a saving grace from Tommy! ... "skippy and his lunch" ...this would be good at a bbq on a warm day, decent..

Nice aroma, rather attractive and inviting. Fragrance of yeast with body. Hypnotizing swirling pour inside a pale yellow brew. Varying carbonation; at times its creamy, other times you can barely tell there is any there. Wheatish taste but I don’t care for that slight ale attribute. Mild and friendly for the most part. Not much bitterness on the finish. Some very slight hints of lemon on the sides of the tongue.

Pours a slightly cloudy light golden hue. The nose is pleasantly sweet with gentle lemon grass whiffs. The flavor was crisp and refreshing with a nice light mouthfeel complimented by the citrus taste throughout. I really enjoyed this one and think it’d be great for a warm summer day after a surf session~

Murky golden orange color with a medium white head. Bready yeast and some slight citrus tones in the aroma. Medium bodied and a bit high carbonation. Flavor of yeast and oranges, with even the lemongrass coming out late. Light and sort of refreshing finish, a little dirty.

bottle to glass. absolutely no head, nice lemony aroma. liguth blond color. drinks clean with a elements of grapefruit some breadiness. tart and citrusy, with some hoppiness. says it has lemongrass in it; i have no idea what it tastes like, so not sure if thats what im tasting or not. finishes pretty clean but overall not very interesting.

Nice golden coloured body with a hazy orange glow and a strong white head. Light aroma of yeast and wheat with a bit of coriander seed also coming through. Light to Medium-bodied; Nice wheatie flavour with some lemons, oranges and coriander seed very noticeable. Aftertaste is a bit more potent with some sweetness, curacao and a faint bit of hops. Overall, a decent wheat - nothing horrible, and good for a hot day! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 05-April-2008.
