Commercial Description:
An American-style wheat ale brewed with 30% malted wheat and 2 row barley. Low hopping rates allow the refreshing aroma and citrus flavor of a late addition of lemon grass to dominate. This unfiltered beer retains all of its protein, flavor, and some of its yeast, resulting in a traditionally cloudy appearance. 2000 North American Brewers Asc. Gold Medal

Pale hazy yellow. Smells a little like banana, but not much. Blah, the flavor is awful. Salty and funky with a hint of artificial something. Yuck. NOT a good wheat.

Pours hazy medium yellow with small fizzy off-white head. Nose is lemongrass and clean wheat. Flavor of lemongrass, wheat, floral hops. Watery mouthfeel. Very middle of the road.

Bottle (12oz). Very bubbly, slightly hazy gold, small fizzy beige head. Fresh malty and weirdly spruce-y aroma, light fruit and yeast. The taste is mostly grapeseed and pine/spruce, fresh and sharp - watery body, incredibly well carbonated, lightly astringent, odd sharp aftertaste, vaguely reminiscent of Pinesol floor cleaner, but not horrid - I think this must be the lemon grass - if that’s lemon grass, this sucker’s loaded with it! Godd hot weather brew.

Apple and maple syrup aroma, but not strong. Cloudy golden color witha non existent head, but marvelous carbonation. Tart, somewhat yeasty.and apple is detectable. Grass and raisin finish. Great mouthfeel, good taste.

Good brew. Pours a slightly cloudy light amber. Malt and citrus in the aroma, also a touch of grass. Light on the palate with notes of citrus and grass. Taste is very smooth and refreshing. I can definitely sense the lemon grass there. A great warm summer day beer.

Bottle via trade. Pours very hazy light golden color with almost no head. The aroma is a weak citrus with the slightest hint of malt. There is very little flavor. There is the slightest hint of grains along with light citrus notes. Tends toward the lemony side. Watery mouthfeel. This is a one time tasting.

Bottle: Slightly hazy gold in color with a white head. Aroma, wheat and some pale malts maybe, not much else. Flavor, lemon, wheat, some light citrus, a tart kick towards the end, finishes very lemony. Not that good.

Bottle. Pours hazy light gold. Very minimal aroma profile. I get a hint of grain (wheat/barley) and that’s it. Where’s the lemongrass? Ahhh... there it is on the palate. Not too bad, I guess. Light citrus notes, a hint of malt. Actually quite refreshing. Of all the Tommyknockers, this is my favorite (although that’s not saying too much.)
