Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Apr 25, 2007 Hazed, pale straw gold appearance, copious carbonation, smallish head, especially for the style, drizzles down in no time.
Funky nose, but not fresh...stale clove and squashed banana...with a side order of plastic....not great. The aroma is usually what I like best in a wheat ale, so this holds little promise.
Taste: ew...not good. Plastic feeling continues in the flavor, as if something is seriously amiss...none of the special, sparkling associations one enjoys in a wheat are anywhere around. Dull, drab, listless, with a flaccid flavor, there’s nothing to like here...in fact, it’s terrible...yuk...and I’ve got four more of these to get through...yikes...poor me...
Nothing more to say. Big disappointment. morrdt (608), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Apr 21, 2007 Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a hazy golden color with a bit of head to it. Not too much in the aroma category, but the taste is okay at best. Meh. Metalhead (570), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA Apr 7, 2007 Slightly hazy gold/orange pour with mild head. Not much aroma. A little citrusy a little hops. No yeastiness, banana or clove. Not bad not great. Also not harsh like some American wheats can be. TheOrange (405), Kent, Ohio, USA Apr 6, 2007 Pale somewhat clear pale yellow pour. Small white head fades fast. Aroma is mostly lemon with just a note of hops. Flavor is true to the aroma, with a somewhat malty finish. The beer is highly carbonated. There are better, but with the large lemony flavor, this would be better on a hot summer night. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 4, 2007 Bottle sampled with stegosaurus. Pours a hazy golden color with a limited white head. Aroma of lemons, and citrus. Flavor was similar to aroma with a light body and a crisp refreshing finish. kimcgolf (822), Dacula, Georgia, USA Mar 28, 2007 Poured to a clear golden orange, not hazy like I expected, with virutally no head or lacing. Aroma was very slight, though I picked out a slight citrusy fruit smell. Unfortunately, no spice or dough smell. Flavor was pleasant, again with hints of fruit. Mouthfeel was fairly flat, and finish just so-so.
Not a bad drinking beer, just not much of a wheat beer. Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Mar 24, 2007 on tap at Finnegan’s Wake, the local Irish bar in W-S. it was not exactly what I wanted on a chilly, still winter, not quite yet spring evening, so i was disinclined to be satisfied from the start but someone bought it for me, so who is complaining? that’s what I said. poured a cloudy amber hue with a minimal but slightly fluffy white head that dissipates. tastes a lot like Blue Moon, even more like Hoegaarden, but not quite the staple that either of those wheat beers are. the aroma was significantly better than the taste that followed it. like a big breath of fresh outdoor air, in a wheat field. cliche yes? joking? no. dirt, grass, hay, wheat, lemon and a touch of honey. very very fresh. tasted ok. definetely fresh. hay and wheat. lots of lemon. probably too much lemon. particularly at the end. some hints of yeast and cloves. I was dissapointed by the T-Knocker. introduced to the brewer at the Brewgrass festival in Ashville in Oct. 05 and liked them. oh well. hot day and its around, drink it. I wouldn’t seek it out. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Mar 23, 2007 A nice wheat beer with whispers of citrus thanks to the addition of lemon grass. Color is cloudy amber, so you know it hasn’t been filtered. Aroma has a hint of lemon, as does the taste, which is typical of a wheat beer. Pleasant and uncomplex, it has just a little bit of a hoppy bite.
