Commercial Description:
An American-style wheat ale brewed with 30% malted wheat and 2 row barley. Low hopping rates allow the refreshing aroma and citrus flavor of a late addition of lemon grass to dominate. This unfiltered beer retains all of its protein, flavor, and some of its yeast, resulting in a traditionally cloudy appearance. 2000 North American Brewers Asc. Gold Medal

Bottle. Pours a good, golden yellow with a minimal head. Aromas of rubbing alcohol and tea. The lemongrass was the reason for me buying it, but it’s too weak in the mix and made what could have been a great wheat beer a really bland pilsner.

Label is over the top, just wild! Cloudy appearance as advertised. The flavor is surprisingly dry and crisp. There are plenty of classical wheat tastes. Lemon and coriander can be detected. The beer is surprisingly carbonated. I like this style and this was pretty good, but not one of the top brews.

In an odd way I liked this beer, not a world class thing going on here. The lemon grass did add a nice zip to a boring style.

About as average as you can get. Nice citrus notes and an abundance of lemon. Soda pop feel. Watery. Not much going on.

Nice wheat haze and golden color with a good head. But the lemon grassgave the whole thing a nasty furnature polish finish that just didn’t work for me.

Pours a sandy, golden brown with considerable haze... near opaque. A whitish head fades fast. Weak aroma with kind of a "banana ice cream" feel to it. Roasted corn nuts late. Tart flavor atop a base of grains. A bit thin and overcarbonated. MIld sweetness in the finish, but sourness is louder. Not bad, but probably the weakest of the Motherlode.

on tap-pours a white head and cloudy yellow color. Aroma is sweet, wheat. Taste is sweet, wheat, background citrus. OK carbonation.

Poured a murky light orange from the bottle with very little white head. Smells of malt and wheat with very little hop to speak of. Slightly citrus, slightly malty flavor, but forgettable taste. Refreshing beer though, better than I expected but simple and light flavor.
